This North Vancouver home holds a special story—it was once our client’s family home, the place where they grew up and where their parents raised them. Now, with a new generation in mind, they returned to the same house to create a modern family home filled with warmth, function, and timeless style.
Our design approach focused on preserving the heart of the home while completely reimagining the layout for today’s lifestyle. One of the biggest transformations was swapping the kitchen and dining room locations. This allowed us to design a spacious, light-filled kitchen with ample storage, modern appliances, and a welcoming island at the center of it all—the true hub for family gatherings.

At the heart of the renovation is a modern open-concept kitchen. Anchored by a striking dark wood island, the design balances warmth and sophistication. Custom cabinetry in a soft neutral tone offers ample storage while maintaining a streamlined look. Oversized windows flood the space with natural light, connecting the kitchen seamlessly to the outdoors. We also straightened the angled walls typical of 1980s construction, giving the home cleaner lines and a more functional floor plan. The result is a seamless blend of modern upgrades with classic details, including custom millwork, a stone fireplace feature, and natural wood accents that bring warmth and texture.
