Design Process
Triple Dot Design is a full-service interior design studio. We work with you to create a comprehensive design for your home that is not only beautiful, but has longevity and functionality built right in. Whether it is a renovation or a new build project, we make the design process personal, efficient, and fun.
Concept
Much like building a house, the design process starts from the ground up. The concept is the foundation for everything else in your design. During this stage, we’ll work together to establish the direction the design will take and make sure everyone involved is on the same page.
Proposed Plans
After defining the concept, the next step is the proposed interior design plans. We’ll go over them together and discuss how they fit your lifestyle and your family’s needs. As we move through the process and collect more information, these plans will become more and more detailed. We will fine tune until the design is a perfect match for both you and your budget.
For projects that require permits, we provide official city permit drawings. Not sure if your job requires a permit? Don’t worry! We are well-versed in BC building codes and city bylaws. We will let you know what your project requires and walk you through the process.
Elevations
Interior elevations are drawings which show you the details of your design. A key tool in the design process, these drawings include custom millwork, finishing carpentry, lighting, plumbing, and other details. Like the plans, the elevations become more and more detailed as we work through the process together.
Fixtures, Finishes, & Appliances
Also known as “the fun part,” this is the stage where you get to choose all of your materials, plumbing, light fixtures, appliances, and even furniture. Going out to source these items on your own can get overwhelming very fast, so we narrow it down for you. We’ll present you with multiple options that fit your style, budget, and space.
Final Design
Once we’ve gathered all the details, design input, material selections, and other info, we put it all into one comprehensive binder for you and your contractor to reference while implementing the design.
Your final design package will include:
Concept presentations
Permit drawings (where required)
Interior design drawings including
Detailed elevations
Demo & proposed floor plans
Finishes plan
Reflected ceiling plan and switching plan
Reference plan
Specifications document for all materials and fixtures
Cut sheets for all your fixtures
